Abstract:

1-butyl-3-methyl imidazolinium hydroxide ionic liquid (BMIm[OH]) is loaded on commercial low surface area Pd-Ag/α-Al2O3 solid ‎catalyst to enhance higher selectivity of acetylene partial hydrogenation. Different experimental techniques such as atomic absorption spectroscopy, surface area measurement and gas chromatography have been utilized to characterize chemical, structural and catalytic properties of the catalyst. Additionally, FT-IR spectra are collected to study the synthesized ionic liquid. The selectivity and activity of ‎the fresh and aged catalysts are compared for both ionic liquid free and loaded samples.‎

Highly Dispersed PdNPs/α-Al2O3 Catalyst for the Selective Hydrogenation of Acetylene Prepared with Monodispersed Pd Nanoparticles

Pd nanoparticles (PdNPs) stabilized by methyl cellulose (MC) were synthesized in an aqueous solution, which are monodispersed nanoparticles. PdNPs/α-Al2O3 catalyst was prepared with monodispersed PdNPs and showed better catalytic performance than Pd/α-Al2O3 catalyst prepared by the incipient wetness impregnation method using Pd(NO3)2 as a precursor. The catalysts were characterized by transmiss...

Highly cis-selective and lead-free hydrogenation of 2-hexyne by a supported Pd catalyst with an ionic-liquid layer.

A simple Pd/SiO2 catalyst which was modified with the ionic liquid [BMPL][DCA] gave an excellent yield of 88% towards cis-2-hexene in the stereoselective hydrogenation of 2-hexyne. The catalyst outperforms, even at full conversion, the commonly used lead-poisoned, toxic Lindlar catalyst and supported colloidal-based Pd as well.

Novel Pd promoted Ag/Al2O3 catalyst for the selective reduction of NOx

A novel palladium promoted Ag/Al2O3 catalyst (denoted Ag-Pd/Al2O3) has been developed for the selective catalytic reduction of NO by C3H6. The Ag-Pd/Al2O3 shows a higher NOx conversion than Ag/Al2O3, especially at the temperatures ranging from 300 to 450 ◦C. The addition of a small amount of Pd (0.01 wt.%) to Ag/Al2O3 is considered to be favorable for the partial oxidation of C3H6. In situ diff...

Alkaline ionic liquids applied in supported ionic liquid catalyst for selective hydrogenation of citral to citronellal

The challenge in preparation of ionic liquids containing a strong alkaline anion is to identify a suitable cation which can tolerate the harsh conditions induced by the anion. In this study, a commercial quaternary ammonium compound (quat) benzalkonium [ADBA] (alkyldimethylbenzylammonium) was used as a cation in the synthesis of different alkaline ionic liquids. In fact, the precursor, benzalko...

Carbon monoxide hydrogenation over alkali-promoted Rh/Al2O3, Rh/V2O3/SiO2 and Rh/ThO2/SiO2

Addition of Li, Na, K and Cs to a 1.5 wt% Rh/Al,O, catalyst resulted in a decrease of the hydrocarbon formation rate, while the methanol formation rate was almost unaffected. The overall result is an increased oxygenate selectivity at a decreased total activity. The oxo-selectivity increased in the order unpromoted < Li < Na< K < Cs. The results suggest that the main role of the alkali promoter...
